Photovoltaic (PV) modules are designed to last for multiple years. Design certification programs were developed to provide a great deal of confidence that such products would remain reliable and safe for a reasonably long time.
Like any typical certification program, PV module certification programs are basically the measure of the performance under simulated environmental conditions. Successful completion of such programs boosts both consumers’ and manufacturers’ confidence on the performance and reliability of the products, essential in making informed buying decision.
In the following section we have organized the content by the typical device standards used for the photovoltaic industry. TÜV Rheinland PTL offers and supports testing in all of the standards below. This section includes only a partial listing of the major system standards for the photovoltaic related standards.
It does not include all the necessary standards and requirements for system components.
