Concentrated Photovoltaics

underline

In the following section we have organized the content by the system technologies. This section includes only a partial listing of the major system standards for the photovoltaic related standards. This section also includes some common system components. This section does not encompass all the necessary standards and requirements.

IEC 62108 “Concentrator photovoltaic (CPV) modules and assemblies - Design qualification and type approval”

Specifies the minimum requirements for the design qualification and type approval of concentrator photovoltaic modules and assemblies suitable for long-term operation in general open-air climates. The test sequence is partially based on that specified in IEC 61215. Determines the electrical, mechanical, and thermal characteristics of the CPV modules and assemblies and shows that the CPV modules and assemblies are capable of withstanding prolonged exposure in climates described in the scope.

Safety Test Procedures for Concentrator Photovoltaic Modules and Assemblies

Currently Safety Standards are under development for Concentrated Photovoltaic Modules and Assemblies by a number of industry experts including members of TÜVReinland® international groups.

The requirement currently under consideration cover concentrator photovoltaic (CPV) modules and assemblies that concentrate light on a target PV cell(s) for use in general and restricted areas in accordance with the unit's installation instructions. The intended requirements will address concentrator photovoltaic (CPV) modules and assemblies intended for installation in accordance with their installation instructions on or integral with buildings, or to be freestanding (i.e. not attached to buildings), in accordance with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70, and model building codes.
